Amanda Koesnell’s story is one of resilience, faith, and family. Growing up as the youngest in a tight-knit family in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth, Amanda was surrounded by the love and support of her siblings, who stepped up when their mother worked long hours. Her brother was her homework hero, while her sister took on the role of deputy mother, ensuring both Amanda and their brother were well cared for.

The true hero of Amanda’s story, however, is her mother. A single parent who made countless sacrifices, Amanda’s mother instilled in her the values of hard work, perseverance, and faith. Amanda recalls her mother’s daily affirmations that she was born a leader and could achieve anything she set her mind to. These affirmations, coupled with lessons from Psalms 23:4 and Philippians 4:13, fortified Amanda’s spirit and guided her through life’s challenges.

Amanda’s journey to becoming a Labour Law Specialist and Dispute Resolution Official at the Consolidated Employers’ Organisation (CEO) was not just a career choice but a fulfilment of a lifelong dream. Her passion for neutralising toxic work environments and resolving disputes amicably is driven by a deep-seated desire to make a positive impact in the workplace.

Her path to CEO was serendipitous. Initially applying for a post in the Northern Cape, Amanda’s resume found its way to Gqeberha thanks to the foresight of a colleague, and the rest, as they say, was written in the stars. At CEO, Amanda finds alignment with the organisation’s vision of understanding individual member needs and empowering them with knowledge about industry-specific agreements and procedures.

Despite her professional accomplishments, Amanda’s pride shines brightest when she speaks of her involvement at her church. Her faith is a cornerstone of her life, as evidenced by her daily devotions, love for gospel music, and the ever-present Bible she carries with her.

In her leisure time, Amanda enjoys socialising, networking, and indulging in online shopping. She loves dining at San Fernandos, where oxtail and mashed potatoes paired with a glass of Rupert & Rothschild are her go-to. Her favourite TV series, “How to Get Away with Murder,” perhaps offers a glimpse into her analytical mind and passion for justice.

Amanda’s story is a testament to the power of a mother’s love and the strength of faith. Her journey, shaped by the sacrifices of her mother, is a beautiful narrative of perseverance and triumph.
