Dear BCCEI CEO Members
On the 06th May 2020, the Bargaining Council for the Civil Engineering Industry (BCCEI) communicated to industry members that the Department of Employment and Labour (DEL) is silent on the operation of bargaining councils. Therefore, the BCCEI offices will remain closed and no walk-in’s were allowed.
We would like to advise our members that on the 12th May 2020, the BCCEI issued a circular stating that the council have not received any formal confirmation from the Department of Employment and Labour (DEL) regarding the opening of their offices and resumption of the Disputes and Enforcement services.
Furthermore, the council confirmed that they have received information that the relevant Regulations will be amended accordingly to specifically include Bargaining Councils and the CCMA and the council will continue to operate remotely without physical contact with members of the public until the council have received the amended Regulations or formal confirmation from the Department of Employment of Labour.
We have been advised that BCCEI will still continue to assist and accept enquiries through non-contact methods such as email, facsimile and telephone and appeal to all members to continue to observe and abide by all the BCCEI Collective Agreements.
Please see the full circular dated 12th May 2020 for your perusal.
